About the Position: This is a Human Resources Assistant (Recruitment & Placement) position located within the TRADOC Soldier & DoD Services HR Directorate under the TRADOC HQ & CAC Branch.
NOTE: This position is developmental and may be filled at the GS-5, GS-6 or GS-7 level. The incumbent may be non-competitively promoted pending time-in-grade requirements and demonstrated ability to perform the next level/grade duties. The full performance level for this position is GS-7.
Duties
As a Human Resources Assistant (Recruitment and Placement), you will perform duties to included, but not limited to the following:
Arrange for physicals/drug tests and follow up to obtain results.
Coordinate entry on duty dates and release dates for new employees.
Use various software programs to create, copy, edit, store and print a variety of documents, produce correspondence and reports, and create spreadsheets.
Respond to customer inquiries, phone calls and emails for information.
Create in-processing packets and conduct in-processing briefings for new employees.

GS-05 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes applying military or civilian human resource rules and regulations to perform administrative support assignments including preparing, reviewing documents, tracking work statuses and suspense's, providing customer service and drafting and reviewing correspondence. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04)

Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
GS-06 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes applying civilian human resource rules and regulations to perform a full range of HR support assignments including verifying records and documents to prepare HR forms; processing HR personal actions such as appointments, separations, promotions or employee benefits; providing customer service and assisting senior staff members with data input into civilian human resources database systems; coordinating pre-employment requirements such as (physical, drug testing, PSIP, etc). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Human Relations, Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Management, or Public Administration, or other related field of study.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages.
GS-07 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes in civilian Human Resources which includes coordinating pre-employment requirements; resolving problems associated with and conducting new employee in-processing; providing information about employee benefits (i.e. life and health insurance, annual and sick leave accrual, Thrift Saving Plan, and credible service history); providing guidance in enrolling in benefits; and responding to customer inquiries regarding issues such as service computation dates, military buy back, and various leave programs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Human Relations, Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Management, or Public Administration, or other related field of study.

Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
Time in Grade Requirement for the GS-05: Candidates may be advanced without time restriction to positions up to GS-5 if the position to be filled is no more than two grades above the lowest grade the employee held within the preceding 52 weeks under their latest non-temporary competitive appointment.
Time in Grade Requirement for the GS-06: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
Time in Grade Requirement for the GS-07: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
