About the Position: Serves as a Human Resources Military Personnel Technician under the supervision of the Commander and Deputy to the Commander of the United States Student Detachment's (USSD) chain of command (COC), located at the Command and General Staff College, US Student Division, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.
Duties
As a Human Resources Assistant (Military/Office Automation), you will perform the following duties which is not an all inclusive list:
Complete monthly reports and ensure assigned and attached personnel are accounted for. Process student personnel actions and awards within Army Regulations.
Answer and assist students with complex financial and personnel customer service questions. Establish financial or personnel appointments for record or reviews.
Prepare routine correspondence, orders, amendments, transmittals, memorandums, personnel rosters, and statistical reports.
Create, copies, edits, revises, retrieves, stores, and prints a wide range of documents in final form. Develop replies to inquiries by interpreting regulations, policies, and precedent decisions.
Establish coordination with higher headquarters as necessary and ensure military operations policies are available and up to date and ready for Staff Assistance visits.
Requisition and maintain supplies.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
- A Qualified Typist is required.

Specialized Experience Requirement: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: completing correspondence and monthly reports by utilizing office automation software; reviewing personnel actions for accuracy; and receiving visitors and phone calls. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

Qualified Typist Requirement: In addition to meeting the experience, for all positions titled as Office Automation or any clerical positions which has parenthetical title of Office Automation (OA), applicants must have a typing proficiency of 40 words per minute (wpm).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06). Applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade and specialized experience requirements within thirty (30) days after the closing date of the announcement.
Education
Education Substitution: Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet qualifications requirements using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
