About the Position: Serves as a HR Assistant (Mil) in the Military Personnel Div and advises on various military administrative and personnel management matters.
Recruitment, relocation and/or retention incentives are NOT being offered for this position.
Moving expenses are NOT authorized.
Duties
As a HR Assistant (Military), you will perform the following duties:
Review incoming regulations and directives relating to administration and military programs.
Provide quality control checks for all Human Resources actions within the Personnel Processing Center utilizing various electronic systems.
Provide maintenance of military personnel records.
Oversee final quality control check for data correctness and proper management of entitlement and benefits.
Work with installation leadership to ensure that the force maintains deployment readiness by ensuring Soldier records, identification, and identification tags are current and correct.
Retrieve data from various information sources (TAPDB, FINANCE, EMILPO) for use in answering questions, responding to correspondence, or preparing reports and briefings.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Temporary duty travel (15% or less) away from the normal duty station may be required.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized experience required: At least one FULL year of specialized experience at or equivalent to at least the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience reviewing and preparing reports, inputting data and processing military personnel actions.

Education: One full academic year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skill, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Human Resources/Personnel, Business, Business Admin, or Business Management. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. (To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then, divide your semester hours of graduate education by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentages must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.) (NOTE: You MUST attach a copy of ALL your transcripts.)
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
All applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade and specialized experience requirements within thirty (30) days after the closing date of the announcements. Current employees applying under VEOA are subject to time-in-grade restrictions like any other GS employee.
