You will serve as a Supervisory Production Controller in the Waterfront Operations Department (150), Aircraft Carrier Conversion/Overhaul Division (152) of SUPSHIP.

Duties

You will serve as the Branch Head responsible for executing a complex scheduled overhaul, reviewing contracts, strategy, and execution. You will ensure funds are adequate and are provided in a timely manner to prevent an adverse impact on work schedules. You will make decision on work problems presented by subordinates to accept, amend, or reject work. You will set priorities and goals within assigned work category and monitor to ensure goals are accomplished. You will prepare technical correspondence and reports, assemble and disseminate reports on current status of all work within combat systems work category for the Division Head. You will conduct continuous on site project reviews within combat systems work category. You will resolve Production Control schedule conflicts which involve isolating and defining unknown conditions, resolving critical problems or developing new theories. You will plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, set and adjust short-term priorities and prepare schedules for completion of work. You will serve as a technical advisor on all aspects of shipboard combat systems equipment, components, related auxiliary systems and electrical shipboard systems, operations and maintenance of aircraft carrier shipboard combat systems. You will apply and adapt technical knowledge to independent solutions to problems encountered. You will present projects/programs briefings to obtain consensus/approval. You will represent the organization as a combat systems technical subject matter expert.

  • This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower pay band (NJ-03) or grade level (GS-11 equivalent) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector leading or managing production projects to support the construction, modernization or repair of nuclear aircraft carriers, propulsion systems, and/or weapon systems.
