You will serve as a Production Controller (Ships) in the New Construction Aircraft Carrier Division; Waterfront Operations Department of SUPSHIP.
Duties
You will function as the technical authority for hull, mechanical and electrical/electronic systems and will be independently responsible for extensive review, coordination, research, and resolution of the changes and problem areas of assigned ships.
You will act as the hull, mechanical and electrical/electronic waterfront project manager (ship’s superintendent), facilitating rapid problem resolution affecting orderly, economical completion of ship construction or Post Shakedown Availabilities.
You will coordinate, manage, and review contract requirements, specifications, and other required documents for the construction of ship(s) assigned.
You will function as the Project Officer for assigned work by reviewing work schedule progress indicators to identify problem areas.
You will process complex and varied changes, which affect the configuration and ultimate delivery dates of ships.
You will plan and manage the CVN 78 Class Government Furnished Equipment and Information program fo the systems under your cognizance, for the Project Office.
You will provide status input to a variety of reports which provide customers with the status of their assigned project.
You will ensure authorized work has been accomplished, including trial items, post-delivery deficiencies, and guaranty items.
You may be expected to ride the ship during all trials and coordinate the activity’s effort in witnessing tests, documenting trial deficiencies, assigning responsibility for corrective action, and coordinating follow-up action.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector planning or overseeing ship construction, maintenance, or repair production projects, schedules, or tasks.
