You will serve as a SUPERVISOR PRODUCTION CONTROLLER (SHIPS) in the WATERFRONT OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT of SUPSHIP. This position is part of the Department of Defense Civilian Acquisition Workforce Personnel Demonstration Project. The NJ-4 broadband level encompasses positions equivalent to GS-12 and GS-13.

Duties

You will resolve problems affecting cost, scheduling, and performance of contracts. You will ensure timely reporting of potential and actual slippage of contract schedules and maintain records on status of authorized and projected work. You will ensure funds are adequate and provided in a timely manner to prevent an adverse impact on work schedules. You will obtain approval for new work as authorized and issue instructions for reduced cost contract changes when necessary to clear items leading to final contract settlement. You will prepare technical correspondence and reports for dissemination. You will communicate with the Project Officer on the status of projects ensuring that direction and guidance are correctly and timely dispatched. You ensure equipment and facilities are adequate to support projects and Project Office personnel. You will review and evaluate performance, set performance standards, discipline employees, and resolve conflicts as the supervisor.

  • This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
  • This position is a temporary promotion which is not to exceed one year.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower pay band NJ-03 (GS-11) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector leading production projects to support of design, construction, or repair for submarine or combat weapon systems.
