This position is located in the Management Directorate, Office of Administration, Facilities Management Division, National Capital Region Space Management Branch.
As a Space Management Specialist (Security), you will serve as a project manager for projects with a physical security emphasis with the responsibility to develop and implement policies and procedures for the space acquisition, design, and construction for these offices within the USCIS portfolio.
Duties
Program, design, analyze, oversee, coordinate, and approve the adequacy of space requests, plans, special requirements, new construction, alterations, and repairs.
Serve as technical expert for projects with a physical security emphasis such as IP Video Systems, physical access control systems, intrusion detection systems, and other aspects of the physical protection requirements for USCIS facilities.
Develop, review, and integrate the scope of work and construction requirements to be implemented in alignment with policies and procedures concerning special security and sensitive compartmental information facility construction and inspection.
Coordinate the ordering and installation and integration of project-related amenities such as furnishings, data and voice equipment, and cabling.
Serve as a primary point of contact for senior office managers and personnel from USCIS and other federal agencies as well as private architectural and engineering firms, construction managers, and contractors for coordination.
Conduct surveys and studies developing project requirements, prepare design intent drawings, monitor construction, and prepare recommendations preliminary to, or in conjunction with, major construction projects to be undertaken.

GS-13: You qualify at the GS-13 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, which is equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the federal government, that equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have experience performing the following duties:
Deploying security measures in accordance with security publications and agency policies.
Developing long-range space management studies and forecasts.
Preparing construction plans, specifications, layouts, and cost estimates for space management projects.
Collaborating with architectural/ engineering firms, construction managers, or contractors for coordination, sharing information, and resolution of issues or problems relating to space management activities.
