You will serve as an Animal Caretaker in the Domestic Animal Control Center of Provost Marshal's Office of Marine Corps Camp Pendleton MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP PENDLETON.

Duties

You will observe feeding habits of animals to record or report deviation of normal procedures to supervisory personnel. You will conduct vehicle patrol of areas to find and obtain stray animals. You will inspect animal caretaking equipment and vehicles daily for damage or loss. You will follow procedures in issuing citations for animal control violations. You will receive animals, equipment, and supplies in accordance from an animal caretaker leader. You will perform routine record keeping procedures for a shelter. You will observe animals' appearance and note any signs of illness. You will handle and restrain hard to control animals. You will answer incoming calls to the shelter. You will maintain cleanliness of shelter.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • You will be required to possess and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

Qualifications

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION to include handling animals appropriately to perform work such as shearing or force feeding, and applying medication.
