You will serve as a ANIMAL CARETAKER in the Domestic Animal Control Center of Provost Marshal's Office of Marine Corps Camp Pendleton.
Duties
You will observe feeding habits of animals to record or report deviation of normal procedures to supervisory personnel.
You will conduct vehicle patrol of areas to find and obtain stray animals.
You will inspect animal caretaking equipment and vehicles daily for damage or loss.
You will follow procedures in issuing citations for animal control violations.
You will receive animals, equipment, and supplies in accordance from an animal caretaker leader.
You will perform routine record keeping procedures for a shelter.
You will observe animals' appearance and note any signs of illness.
You will handle and restrain hard to control animals.
You will answer incoming calls to the shelter
You will maintain cleanliness of shelter.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

- You will be required to possess and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
Qualifications
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

I am able to perform common Animal Caretaker tasks including handling animals appropriately to perform work such as shearing or force feeding, and applying medication. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level Animal Caretaker who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.
