You will serve as an ADMINISTRATIVE SPECIALIST in the MANPOWER PERSONNEL AND ADMIN DIRECTORATE of MARINE CORPS BASE HAWAII.

Duties

You will plan and establish workflow and functional assignments with the sections and distribute work to meet demands. You will provide quality assurance for the command’s Naval correspondence, endorsements, Administrative Action Forms, certificates, and Personnel Action Requests. You will provide in depth recommendations to the Adjutant for the Adjutant Marines’ Junior Enlisted Performance Evaluation System marks and fitness reports. You will research and obtain background information for required actions through available tools such as automated databases, historical files, and review of previous or current studies/projects on related topics. You will determine appropriate Directorate staff activity for action and timelines for action to be completed. You will ensure critical timelines and events are met. You will monitor suspense dates, coordinate late responses, and identify potential problem areas.

Requirements

  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Temporary Additional Duty (TAD) for training is mandatory and requires some travel.
  • You will be required to attend training and/or obtain certification: FOIA, DTS, OFFICIAL MAIL.
  • You will be required to obtain Information Assurance (IA) Level I, Technical certification. IA Duty Primary (25 to 40 hours).

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector Preparing, tracking and routing documents, reports, and correspondences; responding to inquiries and resolving administrative matters; AND providing data input and maintaining tasking status reports. Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
  • I have successfully completed master's or equivalent graduate degree or
  • I have successfully completed 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or

  • I have a combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience. My percentage of the required education plus my percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.
