Duties

If selected for this position, you will serve as a Budget Analyst in the Administrative Division of the United States Attorney's Office, Southern District of New York and will be responsible for providing financial and analytical support to a Budget team. As a Budget Analyst you will: Gather and consolidate information and statistical data needed for budget operations and financial reporting. Assist with monitoring and tracking obligations and expenditures for the office. Provide a variety of budgetary reports. Assist with assigning accounting classification codes and entering the information into an electronic accounting system. Assist with reviewing bills against source documents prior to payment ensuring accuracy of goods and services. Review financial requests and forms for completeness of information and authorized signatures. The starting salary for a for a GS-09 is $70,448 - 91,582. A new GS employee is usually hired at step one (1) of the applicable GS grade. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

Qualifications

GS-09: To be eligible at the GS-9 level, you must meet at least ONE of the following conditions, as defined below: Specialized Experience, Education, or a Combination of Education and Experience. Specialized Experience: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level. Specialized experience involves applying concepts and methods to meet financial reporting requirements such as: reviewing funding requests for projections; reviewing invoices, payments and reports for accuracy; entering budget data in a financial system; monitoring and tracking obligations; and ensuring expenditures and available balances are maintained and supported. Education: One of the following types of education in a closely related field (e.g., Accounting, Finance): a Master's or equivalent graduate degree, or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, or an LL.B or J.D., if related. Education at the graduate level must be in an accredited college or university and must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the duties of a Budget Analyst. Combination of Specialized Experience and Education: Combinations of successfully completed graduate education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements. To qualify based on a combination, graduate education must be in excess of one full year.
