This position is located in the Mission Integration Directorate, Recruitment, Medical, and Fitness Division (RMFD). The mission of the Pentagon Force Protection Agency (PFPA) is to provide security and other resources for the Pentagon Reservation and designated DoD facilities (hereinafter referred to as "the Pentagon Facilities") within the National Capital Region (NCR). The RMFD functions to provide medical and fitness surveillance and testing to personnel involving medically covered positions.
Duties
Incumbent typical work assignments may include the following:
The incumbent instructs various law enforcement affiliated physical exercise programs
The incumbent instructs basic and advanced classes involving average to above average difficulty and to periodically design and update fitness training routines using knowledge of physical fitness techniques and fitness reconditioning.
Conducts daily physical exercise battery assessments for law enforcement and other hazardous duty position applicants and incumbents.
Reviews materials within assigned activities, including products, courses, educational objectives, instructor guides, and student manuals, and recommends revisions.
Conducts routine assessments and evaluation of current and evolving training, informational methodologies, and procedures in assigned activities that contribute to a positive learning environment.

- Individuals tentatively selected for drug testing designated positions will be required to submit to urinalysis for illegal drugs prior to appointment and are subjected to random drug testing.
- Position has been designated as Secret-Non-Critical Sensitive. Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

- This position may require 20% occasional travel away from your normal duty station for official business on military or commercial aircraft.
- The incumbent may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays and/or overtime.
Qualifications
Time in Grade:
For entry at the GS-09 level, status applicants must have served 52 weeks as a GS-07 or higher grade in the Federal Service.
Specialized Experience:
For the GS-09, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable in difficulty and responsibility to GS-07 if outside the Federal service.
Specialized experience is defined as: experience assisting with regular physical fitness assessments, assisting with the development of lesson plans, and assisting in instructing basic and advanced fitness classes.
Time in Grade:
For entry at the GS-11 level, status applicants must have served 52 weeks as a GS-09 or higher grade in the Federal Service.
Specialized Experience:
For the GS-11, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable in difficulty and responsibility to GS-05 if outside the Federal service.
Specialized experience is defined as: experience assisting with the development of fitness training programs, conducting regular physical fitness assessments, and reviewing lesson plan materials to assist in planning upcoming events.
Time in Grade:
For entry at the GS-12 level, status applicants must have served 52 weeks as a GS-11 or higher grade in the Federal Service.
Specialized Experience:
For the GS-12, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable in difficulty and responsibility to GS-11 if outside the Federal service.
Specialized experience is defined as: experience developing fitness training programs, reviewing training materials for fitness programs, and maintaining fitness tracking system to report fitness statistics to higher level supervisors.
In addition to meeting the specialized experience requirements, qualified applicants must also possess the quality of experience as it relates to how closely or to what extent an applicant's background, recency of experience, education, and training are relevant to the duties and responsibilities of the announced position. Candidates must clearly demonstrate the possession of competencies necessary to successfully perform the work of the position at the appropriate level to be qualified for the position. Applicants must describe how their experience meets the competencies within the body of the resume. No separate statements addressing competencies are required.

Education
GS-9 Substitution of Education for Experience: Two full years of progressively higher level graduate education, Master's or equivalent graduate degree, may be substituted to meet the qualifying experience requirement. If you are using education to substitute for the qualifying experience, you must submit transcripts at the time you apply.
GS-11 Substitution of Education for Experience: Three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree may be substituted to meet the qualifying experience requirement. If you are using education to substitute for the qualifying experience, you must submit transcripts at the time you apply.
Equivalent combinations of successfully completed graduate level education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements.
If you are using education to substitute for the specialized experience, you must submit transcripts at the time you apply.
There is no substitution of education for the qualifying experience at the GS-12 grade level.
PASS/FAIL COURSES: If more than 10 percent of your undergraduate course work (credit hours) were taken on a pass/fail basis, your claim of superior academic achievement must be based upon class standing or membership in an honor society.
GRADUATE EDUCATION: One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. Such study may have been performed on a full-time or part-time basis. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study
To be creditable, education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. You must report only attendance and/or degrees from schools accredited by accrediting institutions that are recognized by the
U.S. Department of Education .
Foreign Education: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services at the time of application.
