You will serve as a Supervisory Interdisciplinary Physical Scientist/Oceanographer in the Operations Department (N3), Current operations Division (N31) of NAVOCEANO BAY ST LOUIS.
Duties
You will be responsible for supervising, training, and scheduling Current Operations Division personnel and Command Duty Officer personnel.
You will ensure that NAVOCEANO policies, instructions, and regulations are adhered to by the Senior NAVOCEANO Representatives (SNR).
You will evaluate SNR performance and counsel them on work while the SNR is deployed.
You will establish priorities and make work assignments in accordance with the level of the individual such that assignments follow guidelines for completion and requires minimal review.
You will ensure positive communications with forward deployed SNRs and be available twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week and holidays for consultation on all matters related to personnel, vessel, and mission.
You will perform survey duty as SNR on survey platforms.

- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- Evening, weekend and holiday work is required.
- Occasional CONUS and OCONUS travel, less than 50%, is required. The incumbent must be eligible for a passport.
Qualifications
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience ensuring policies, instructions, and regulations are adhered to. Experience providing technical and administrative guidance and conducting formal briefs. Experience monitoring training and providing recommendations regarding training. Experience maintaining situational awareness of operations such as command assets and personnel, including T-AGS. Experience reviewing Cruise Reports. Experience performing survey duty on survey platforms, achieving, and maintaining required certification. Experience ensuring a wide spectrum of environmental data is collected.

Education
Basic Education Requirement:

Successful completion of a bachelor's degree or higher in physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.
OR
Successful completion of a combination of education and experience with education equivalent to one of the majors shown above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

Successful completion of a degree with a major study of at least 24 semester hours in oceanography or a related discipline such as physics, meteorology, geophysics, mathematics, chemistry, engineering, geology, or biology, plus 20 additional semester hours in any combination of oceanography, physics, geophysics, chemistry, mathematics, meteorology, computer science, and engineering sciences.
OR
Successful completion of a combination of education and experience which includes course work in oceanography or a related discipline such as physics, meteorology, geophysics, mathematics, chemistry, engineering, geology, or biology, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
