This position is located in the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Washington, DC Division.
This position primary purpose is to direct, manage, plan, and oversee the execution of activities or functions pertaining to timely processing of all payments in accordance with Federal Appropriations Law and determining any late fees under the provisions of the Prompt Payment Act (PPA). Ensures timely processing of commitments, obligations and payment documents.
Duties
As a Supervisory Financial Management Specialist, your typical work assignments may include:
Completing reconciliations for the Division's allowances, prepares and monitors budgets and accounting reports.
Providing counsel to employees regarding policies, procedures, and directives of management.
Implementing future short and long-range budgetary plans to support the Divisions goals and objectives.
Ensuring that the work of the section/unit employees complies with legal and regulatory requirements and meets DEA or customer needs.
Preparing regular and specialized financial reports using a wide variety of sources for substantive DEA programs associated with the Division.
Interpreting contracts to provide appropriate advice and guidance to stakeholders which include DEA officials and provides appropriate advice and guidance.

- Employee required to become a certified Contracting Officer Representative (COR) Level I within 6 months of assignment.
Qualifications

Applicants applying for the GS-14 must meet one of the following requirements:
Have at least one full year of qualifying specialized experience that is at least equivalent in difficulty and complexity to work performed at the GS-13 grade level. Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Qualifying experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Planning, managing, and executing the functions and activities of a financial program for an organization, including instructing others on financial management execution; 2) Providing expert advice and guidance on the interpretation of financial and budget laws, regulations, policies and procedures to leadership, customers, and subordinates; 3) Advising on contract policies and procedures; 4) Analyzing and assessing contract execution and managing the disposition of the budgeted funds; and, 5) Monitoring obligations and expenditures of an organization's program.
