You will serve as an Interdisciplinary Physical Scientist/Geophysicist/Oceanographer/Geodesist/ Mathematician, GS-1301/1313/1360/1372-12, in the Hydrographic Products Branch (NP412), Data Management Division (NP41), Hydrographic Department (NP4) of NAVOCEANO BAY ST LOUIS.
Duties
You will process tide and geodetic data, evaluate its accuracy and recommendations and determine the processing flow needed to expedite and produce the final product.
You will write geodetic, tide planning documents, specification and procedures, and make recommendations for the processing of tide and geodetic data for various requirements.
You will compute and generate tidal datum, models, zoning, and predicted corrections for various tide projects and requests.
You will develop Standard Operations Procedures to compile and process tide and geodetic data.
You will perform analysis on technological problems and implement acceptable solutions.
You will identify and recommend solutions to software and hardware problems as they relate to data processing.

- The work during periods of TDY may require much walking, climbing, and lifting of objects of up to 50 pounds while with detached parties ashore.
Qualifications
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience with the formation and distribution of bathymetric and hydrographic features. Experience planning and preparing survey charts and documents. Experience processing tide and geodetic data, evaluating its accuracy, and determining the processing flow. Experience computing and generating tidal datums, models, zoning, predicted corrections for various tide projects. Experience developing Standard Operating Procedures for procedures used to compile and process tide and geodetic data. Experience with tidal and geodetic applications software and geographic information systems software.

Possession of a bachelor's degree or higher in physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.

A combination of education and experience with education equivalent to one of the majors shown above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

Successful completion of a degree that included at least 30 semester hours in mathematics (including calculus) and the physical sciences (geophysics, physics, engineering, geology, astronomy, meteorology, electronics, etc.).
OR
A combination of experience and education that included at least 30 semester hours in mathematics (including calculus) and the physical sciences (geophysics, physics, engineering, geology, astronomy, meteorology, electronics, etc.), plus appropriate experience or additional education.
1360-
Successful completion of a degree with a major study of at least 24 semester hours in oceanography or a related discipline such as physics, meteorology, geophysics, mathematics, chemistry, engineering, geology, or biology, plus 20 additional semester hours in any combination of oceanography, physics, geophysics, chemistry, mathematics, meteorology, computer science, and engineering sciences. Please Note: Applicants who qualify on the basis of major study in biology or geology must have had at least 6 semester hours in the major directly concerned with marine science or 6 semester hours in oceanography; applicants who qualify on the basis of other physical sciences or engineering must have had differential and integral calculus and at least 6 semester hours in physics.
