This position is located in the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of Justice Programs (OJP), Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA). DOJ's mission is to uphold the rule of law, keep the country safe and protect civil rights. OJP's mission is to provide leadership, resources and solutions for creating safe, just and engaged communities and BJA is responsible for providing federal leadership and assistance in support of state and local criminal justice strategies to achieve safe communities.

Duties

Administers assigned grant awards throughout the complete grant lifecycle. Ensures timeliness of grantee submissions and completes necessary actions to close awards. Conducts standard grant closeout processes. Evaluates performance of program progress and financial reports. Stays abreast of changes in policy and legal authorities affecting grants management and assigned grant programs. Maintains working knowledge of training and resources available for grants management system and assigned programs, to be able to communicate and relay timely information to grantees. Completes a variety of tasks related to reviewing grant applications and proposals for assigned programs, using relevant guidelines. Communicates internally on the status of grant applications and awards. Handles a variety of conventional problems and questions that arise in grants processing, such as procedural problems in application processing and records maintenance, and grant award management. Produces correspondence and memoranda regarding standard grant administrative activities.

Qualifications

PATHWAYS RECENT GRADUATE PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY - You must meet one of the following requirements: 1) Be a recent graduate who has completed, within the previous two years, an associates, bachelors, masters, professional, doctorate, vocational or technical degree or certificate from a qualifying educational institution, OR 2) Be a Veteran who, due to their military service obligation, was precluded from applying within two (2) years after degree completion and is applying within six (6) years after completion. Specialized Experience: GS-07: A. Experience: Applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 level. Specialized experience is experience which is in or related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Examples of specialized experience include: Completes a variety of procedural tasks in support of grant applications and proposals review. Manages routine formula grant awards throughout the complete grant lifecycle. Completes procedural tasks in support of standard grant close out processes. Drafts correspondence and memoranda regarding routine grant administrative activities. B. Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have one (1) full year of graduate-level education. Graduate-level education must demonstrate the competencies necessary to do the work of the position, OR A Bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement (3.0 GPA or higher). Superior Academic Achievement is based on 1) class standing, 2) grade point average or 3) honor society membership. See below for more information on Superior Academic Achievement (SAA) In order to be creditable under this provision, Superior Academic Achievement must have been gained in a curriculum that is qualifying/related to the position to be filled. Superior Academic Achievement is based on: (1) Class Standing - Applicants must be in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision, such as the College of Liberal Arts or the School of Business Administration, based on completed courses; OR (2) Grade-Point Average (G.P.A.) - Applicants must have a grade-point average of either (a) 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B" or better) as recorded on your official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or (b) 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B+" or better) based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum.; OR (3) Honor Society Membership which may be considered eligible based on membership in one of the approved national scholastic honor societies listed by the Association of College Honor Societies (https://www.achsnatl.org/). Combining Education & Experience: Applicants may substitute a combination of education and experience for the required experience. Combination of specialized experience as described in "A" and education as described in "B" which totals at least one year. GS-09: A. Experience: Applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 level. Specialized experience is experience which is in or related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Examples of specialized experience include: Reviews grant applications and proposals for reviews grant applications and proposals for completeness, potential risk, and allowability of proposed activities. Manages formula grant awards throughout the complete grant lifecycle, addressing problems or changes throughout the award period. Conducts standard grant close out processes. Produces correspondence and memoranda regarding standard grant administrative activities. B. Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have a master's OR equivalent graduate degree (including LL.B. or J.D. if related) OR have completed two full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree and which demonstrates the competencies necessary to do the work. C. Combining Education & Experience: Applicants may substitute a combination of education and experience for the required experience. Combination of specialized experience as described in "A" and graduate education as described in "B" which totals at least one year. If you do not fully meet the length of experience and education described for a specific grade level (e.g. have six months of experience and some coursework but not a degree), the two can be combined to total 100% of the requirement.
