Duties
Acts as the point of contact for suicide prevention and a local expert on Army policies.
Develop short and long-term prevention strategies and training modules tailored to high-risk units.
Prepare and update training materials for battalion-level commanders on high-risk factors and risk mitigation efforts.
Coordinate suicide prevention training events, maintains a database of training statistics, and documents program expenditures.
Coordinate all installation efforts to reduce suicidal behavior, ensuring involvement of active-duty units, family members, and the civilian workforce.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to perform up to 10% temporary duty (TDY) travel.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. In order to minimally qualified for this position, you must meet one of the following:
Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in behavioral or social science, or a degree in a related discipline appropriate to the position, such as social work, psychology, etc. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
OR
Combination of education and experience that provided me with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
OR
Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrates that I have acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
In addition to meeting one of the above, you must also meet one of the following:
A. One-year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent which includes developing, implementing, or coordinating a substance abuse prevention, risk reduction, or suicide prevention program; AND promoting program awareness, and conducting briefings to commanders.
OR
B. Completed 3 full academic years of progressively higher level graduate education or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a related field. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
OR
C. Specialized experience as described in A, but less than one year; and I have more than two years but less than the required education in B. I have computed the percentage of the requirements that I meet, and the total is at least 100%. (To compute the percentage, divide your total months qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your graduate semester hours by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.) (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

D. Have the experience as described in A AND the education described in B. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
