This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
Duties
Serve as the Deputy to the Prevention Program Manager.
Support I-PAG Program Manager in advising the Senior Commander’s staff or Commanding General’s staff on primary prevention activities.
Assist the Program Manager to provide prevention guidance to Senior Command teams.
Educate leaders on integrated primary prevention and enhances overall leader knowledge of integrated primary prevention.
Assist the Integrated Prevention Program Manager in the development of primary prevention goals and objectives.
Provide oversight and quality controls for other Prevention Specialist and Prevention Implementation staff work products and deliverables.
Supervise the development and measurement of a comprehensive prevention plan and marketing strategy.
Maintain day-to-day operations and oversight of integrated primary prevention efforts by ensuring technical competence of the integrated primary prevention workforce, to include prevention implementation specialists.

Basic Requirement for Prevention Specialist (PREV WF):
A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in behavioral or social science, or related disciplines appropriate to the position, such as counseling, social work, psychology, criminal justice, etc.
OR
B. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
OR
C. Experience: Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes expertise in prevention data science and its usage in data analysis, evaluation, and formulating effective primary prevention initiatives to address two or more harmful behaviors. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
