The FBI is recruiting a Computer Scientist to support mission critical cyber operations. As a Computer Scientist, you will specialize in the design, development, integration, and deployment of cutting-edge tools and systems to support cyber operations and intelligence activities. Leveraging advanced knowledge and tradecraft with regards to computer and network security, you will produce creative, innovative, and elegant solutions to some of the toughest challenges.
Duties
Develop capabilities to conduct the FBI's Computer Network Exploitation mission.
Perform penetration testing and forensic analysis of mobile applications.
Lead outreach efforts with vendors to evaluate new tools to further the unit's mission.
Perform vulnerability research and reverse engineering to handle complex requirements from mission teams.
Lead development teams and mentor junior employees in vulnerability research and mobile application analysis.
Qualifications
Positive Education Requirement
This position has a specific education requirement; all applicants must verify completion of this basic educational requirement by submitting a copy of their college transcripts by the closing date of the vacancy announcement.
BASIC REQUIREMENT: Bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have include any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.
Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the above requirements provided you can show foreign education is comparable to that received in an accredited educational institution in the United States.
Specialized Experience (SE):
GS-13: Applicant must possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level. SE is defined as follows:
Experience in software engineering.
Experience researching vulnerabilities in software platforms.
Experience with Android, iOS, and Mac systems.
In addition to the above:
GS-14: Applicant must possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level. SE is defined as follows:
Experience reverse engineering malware and mobile applications.
Experience in project management, system engineering and software development.
Experience leading teams and developing junior employees.
