You will serve as a SHEET METAL MECHANIC (LOCKSMITH) in the Facilities Management & Sustainment Product Line of NAVFAC ENGINEERING CMD MID-ATLANTIC.
Duties
You will open, adjust, troubleshoot, repair and install a wide variety of locking devices.
You will fabricate new parts and modifies parts when replacement parts are not available.
You will determines precise locations and angles for drilling without harming the contents or causing irrevocable damage to the locking mechanisms or containers.
You will use shop tools and equipment, such as, hand or powered crimping, burring, turning, and beading
machines and soldering and welding equipment.
You will operate more complex hand and power machines such as, slip-roll forming machines, box and pan brakes, rotary machines with extra forming rolls, crimpers, and beading machines.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal. TOP SECRET
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- This position requires a valid state driver’s license.
- May be required to serve on-call duty on a rotational basis. When on-call is required to carry a duty cell phone and duty pager and must remain available to respond on site to after-hour emergencies within two hours.
- May be designated as Essential personnel and required to report for duty or held in a duty status to provide support before, during and/or after special emergency situations.
- This position requires a physical before onboarding and annually thereafter.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: 1) Troubleshoots and repairs panic hardware exit devices; 2) Installs and repairs X09 and X10 safe locks; 3) Troubleshoots and repairs electric door strikes and door magnets; 4) Opens, adjusts, troubleshoot, repair and install a wide variety of locking devices; 5) Picks and cuts keys to fit all types of locks; and 6) Possesses knowledge to set up or maintain a master key system.
