About the Position: As the Plans Specialist, employee is personally responsible for the Strategic Communications and engagement of Sustainment plans/special projects where multiple functions are involved requiring detailed study, compilation and analysis of facts, development of plans and extensive coordination with other staff activities internal and external to the CASCOM/SCOE Command Planning Group (CPG).
Duties
Responsible for the Strategic Planning and engagement of Sustainment special projects where multiple functions are involved.
Ensures internal and external task actions are tasked to the appropriate staff office, within CASCOM/SCOE, maintaining suspense controls and logs on staff actions and data calls, and assists staff meet CG’s intent.
Forecasts potential Command requirements, resolves conflicts, and plans and projects time for recurring requirements.
Reviews and evaluates completed staff actions for overall quality of the document, appropriate levels of coordination, consistency, logic, soundness of recommendations and compliance with Command’s Strategic initiatives goals and policy.
Performs protocol functions such as scheduling and setting up conferences and meetings. Informs staff of changes, delays, adjustments or other major changes as they occur.
Employee coordinates actions with other headquarters directorates, clarifies responsibilities and timelines for completion. Consolidates data as necessary and reviews to ensure accomplishment of objectives, timeliness and acceptability.
Serves as expert in use of automated systems used in developing and delivering reports, briefings, and publications, to include any software necessary for quality production.
Deals aggressively and authoritatively with the CASCOM/SCoE and installation staff in establishing the Commander's strategic long-range initiatives to drive others to early specificity in planning.

- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience researching and developing strategic plans, long-range plans and/or policies; preparing briefings to senior leadership; reviewing staff actions (memoranda, reports, studies, information papers) pertaining to sustainment operations; utilizing Microsoft Office software to perform duties. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
