About the Position: Serves as the Staff Synchronizer to the Combined Arms Support Command (CASCOM), Sustainment Center of Excellence (SCOE). Mission of the command is to provide the Army with combat developments, training developments, and institutional training.
Duties
Serve as the staff synchronizer to the command group in the management of the Combined Arms Support Command (CASCOM) and the Sustainment Center of Excellence (SCOE) day to day mission operations.
Direct a team effort responding to special taskings concerning Command operational issues.
Directly supervise the Secretary of the General Staff (SGS), Chief of Executive Operations, Safety, SHARP, Public Affairs, G6/Information Technology and Knowledge Management Directorate and two Command Historians.
Exercise final authority for the full range of personnel actions recommended by subordinate supervisors.
Meet with elected or appointed officials of state and local government, SES, flag and general officers, and international visitors to advance organizational objectives, and to resolve immediate and long range issues/challenges affecting the command.
Communicate the decisions of the Command Group to the appropriate staff elements.
Coordinate the efforts of the team in evaluating the efficiency and effectiveness of current programs, feasibility of future programs, and development of planning efforts.
Act for the Chief of Staff in his/her absence.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- This position requires pre-employment financial disclosure and annually thereafter in accordance with DoD Directive 5500-7-R.
- This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience performing a wide range of complex administration functions in support of daily operations such as represent the organization on matters of importance, make authoritative decisions in the areas of resource management, human resources, information management, risk management, and security programs. Develop policy, resolve daily operational issues, provide advice and guidance to supervisors and other subordinate military or civilian staff. Provide supervision, oversight, coordination, and integration of complex sustainment programs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-14).
