There is an anticipated vacancy for the position of GENERAL ATTORNEY in the Office of the Naval Inspector General (NAVINSGEN) of OFFNAVINSGEN WASHINGTON DC.
Duties
You will provide legal advice and guidance on matters being investigated by NAVINSGEN investigators.
You will provide legal advice and guidance concerning ethics and standards of conduct.
You will provide legal advice and guidance concerning information law, i.e., Freedom of Information Act and the Privacy Act.
You will provide legal advice and guidance concerning civilian personnel matters.
You will represent the Department of the Navy in administrative forums such as EEOC and MSPB.
You will provide legal advice and guidance on administrative matters such as disciplinary matters, requests for reasonable accommodation and suspension of access issues.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.
- You must be an active member in good standing of the bar of the highest court of a State, U.S. Commonwealth, U.S. territory, or the District of Columbia.
- You must be admitted to practice before a state or federal court.
Qualifications
This position will be filled at the GS-14 grade level. Grade and pay will be set commensurate with the successful applicant's qualifications, funding availability, and General Schedule (GS) pay setting guidelines. To be eligible for selection at the GS-14 level, the successful applicant must have a minimum of three and one-half years of recent and relevant professional legal experience commensurate with the duties and responsibilities of the position.
Education
The successful applicant must have graduated from a law school that is accredited by the American Bar Association.
