About the Position: The incumbent in this position serves in the Digital Collection, Analysis and Integration Laboratory (DCAI), G-3, which requires comprehensive knowledge of various Army safety programs, and the Army accident investigation process, located at Fort Novosel, AL.

Duties

Provides technical and analytical support of data extracted from digital source collectors (DSC). Provides digital source collector support for mishap investigation to ensure accuracy in order to identify human, materiel, and environmental factors and trends. Presents briefings and attends meetings, conferences, seminars and workshops on digital source collector issues and their effect on mishap prevention efforts and safety program development. Serves as Safety and Occupational Health Manager at the U.S. Army Combat Readiness Center. Performs a wide range of duties in direct support and execution of the Army Safety Program. Writes letters, information papers, articles, and other correspondence in support of assigned safety program areas.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • The incumbent may be required to travel in support of DSC fielding initiatives and represent the United States Army Combat Readiness Center (USACRC) Army Flight Recorder program planning, and development at the Department of the Army level.
  • Incumbent must be available for deployment to distant locations, compatible with the requirements of the USACRC accident investigation deployment policy.
  • The incumbent may be required to perform TDY up to 25% of the time.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes analyzing data to assist in the identification of accident causes to implement preventive measures for future accidents; preparing accident reports and/or team findings for internal and external staff/agencies; implementing the use of computer technology and instrumentation (hardware and software) applications; coordinating with various organizations regarding the development and resolution of issues; and preparing technical presentations/briefings for various general officers and senior leadership.. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
