About the Position: The incumbent in this position directs, develops, coordinates and conducts analysis of Army Aviation accidents for the US Combat Readiness Center, Office of the Commander Directorate of Hazard Management Aviation Division, located at Fort Novosel, AL.

Duties

Directs analysis of Army Aviation accidents and determines possible future accident prevention initiatives and methods to mitigate future aviation accidents. Responsible for database alignment, quality control checks to reconcile discrepancies with accident log and the Army Safety Management Information System. Conducts trend analysis and writes Independent Safety Assessments in support of assigned safety programs and duties.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Position requires TDY 10% based on mission requirements to CONUS and OCONUS locations.
  • Incumbent must possess a valid driver's license to operate motor vehicles in accomplishing assigned duties.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes developing tools, policies, processes, and/or guidance for identifying hazards and controls through the integration of risk management; analyzing information in areas such as, accident investigation, technical evaluations, safety studies, hazard assessments, and test analysis in order to identify trends in system safety program; and reviewing project progress, by measuring performance, and taking necessary corrective actions to maintain overall program objectives. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Compliance Inspection and Program ManagementInformation Technology ApplicationMishap/Accident Investigation Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
