This position is located in the Orientation Division. Incumbent provides an expert knowledge of training, education and instructional methods, principles, and concepts to serve as the Deputy Coordinator for the State 101: Introduction to the State Department course which orients all personnel to the State Department, builds a cohesive sense of shared mission and values, and reduces barriers among the Department’s employment categories.
Duties
Designs, develops, and facilitates instructionally sound original curriculum and experiential educational orientation. Develops coursework, manages schedules, facilitates classes, and analyzes evaluation data.
Develops and implements communication strategies to promote the content and objectives of the courses, provide opportunities for alumni to connect and learn, and provides recommendations regarding evaluation data.
Develops and implements best practices for in-person and virtual iterations of courses. Innovates options for e-learning and blended learning components of course and content by applying new and effective concepts and learning theories

Qualifications

Applicants must meet ONE of the required basic entry qualification requirements described below:
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
A. Degree: that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to this position;
OR
B. Combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in education, OR in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, PLUS appropriate experience OR additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described in A above.

IN ADDITION to meeting one of the basic entry qualifications requirements listed above, you MUST have at least 1 year of specialized experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. This experience is related to the work of the position and equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal service.
Qualifying experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience designing and delivering educational programs, including exercising significant and complex professional judgment affecting all phases of training.
Experience applying best practices to training and development to create and deliver highly-effective training and educational programs.
Experience applying a critical thinking in curriculum development, educational research, training evaluation and analysis to instructional systems design and innovative delivery methods to align with best practices and principles in adult learning theory.
There is no substitute of education for specialized experience for the GS-13 position.
