You will serve as a Nondestructive Testing Mechanic Leader in the F-18 Program Product Program at FRC Soutwest, Non-Destructive Testing Inspection Shop, Naval Aviation Depot of FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHWEST.
Duties
You will be responsible in instructing others to evaluate, plan, determine and organize repairs and modifications to aircraft, aircraft systems and associated components.
You will direct and work with lower level employees with responsibility for their formal and practical training and quality of their workmanship and production.
You will apply non-destructive testing/inspection techniques to determine the acceptability and serviceability of aircraft, engines, support equipment, structural members, rotor blades, components, and materials
You will pass on instructions recieved from a supervisor to others workers and get job started.
You will assure that needed plans, blueprints, materials, and tools are available.
You will do all other tasks/duties as assigned.
Requirements

- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift

The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to Instruct and includes the following: 1) Monitoring and maintaining shop supplies; 2) Providing leadership to shop personnel and assist in training of shop personnels; 3) Maintaining tool inventory and calibration status; and 4) Keeping supervisory informed on the status of and progress of work. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.
