You will serve as a NONDESTRUCTIVE TESTING MECHANIC SUPERVISOR in the MRO Production Department, Production Lines Division of FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHWEST.

Duties

You will plan, assign, and direct the work or training subordinates. You will explain the more technical aspects of the work and may instruct, demonstrate or help with especially difficult or unusual tasks. You will observe work in progress to assure on time completion and verifies the quality going into the product and inspects work to ensure that standards for quality and quantity are met. You will counsel employees, resolves informal complaints and grievances through discussion with workers and union members, and initiates disciplinary actions as necessary. You will enforce disciplinary and safety regulations, good housekeeping practices and Foreign Object Damage (FOD) prevention and perform administrative functions for subordinates and other related duties. You will administer any or all of the following programs for assigned areas: Training (Formal and On-the-Job). Environmental, FOD and Tool Control Hazardous Material and Hazardous Waste, METCAL, Staffing and Equal Employment Opportunity.

Qualifications

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO LEAD OR SUPERVISE I have the ability to independently perform the most difficult and complex tasks as an expert or have been consulted by other employees in difficult situations performing duties including: 1) Plans the use of resources to meet the requirements of special projects, increases/decreases in schedules and other unexpected work; 2) Sets priorities commensurate with the complexity of the work without losing sight of the regularly scheduled work; 3) Pre-positions the workload and the materials required to accomplish assigned tasks; 4) Reviews new work along with work in process to determine resource requirements; 5) Communicates with the manager verbally or in writing on the status of work, availability of manpower, material or equipment, the workload assigned and the need for overtime or extra labor hours, extra personnel or place excess personnel; 6) Coordinates the work of supporting shops to ensure that outside resources are available and timely; 7) Adjust schedules, revise labor estimates, or adjust other resources to attain desired production levels. I am considered an expert and work with a high degree of independence. I have the ability to perform the full range of tasks on my own initiative including: 1) Plans the use of resources to meet the requirements of special projects, increases/decreases in schedules and other unexpected work; 2) Sets priorities commensurate with the complexity of the work without losing sight of the regularly scheduled work; 3) Pre-positions the workload and the materials required to accomplish assigned tasks; 4) Reviews new work along with work in process to determine resource requirements; 5) Communicates with the manager verbally or in writing on the status of work, availability of manpower, material or equipment, the workload assigned and the need for overtime or extra labor hours, extra personnel or place excess personnel; 6) Will coordinate the work of supporting shops to ensure that outside resources are available and timely; 7) Will adjust schedules, revise labor estimates, or adjust other resources to attain desired production levels. I work on my own initiative under general observation or supervision subject to occasional inspection. I have the ability to perform common tasks under general observation or supervision including: 1) Can plan the use of resources to meet the requirements of special projects, increases/decreases in schedules and other unexpected work; 2) Sets priorities commensurate with the complexity of the work without losing sight of the regularly scheduled work; 3) Pre-positions the workload and the materials required to accomplish assigned tasks; 4) Reviews new work along with work in process to determine resource requirements; 5) Communicates verbally or in writing on the status of work, availability of manpower, material or equipment, the workload assigned and the need for overtime or extra labor hours, extra personnel or place excess personnel; 6) Can coordinates the work of supporting shops to ensure that outside resources are available and timely; 7) Can adjust schedules, revise labor estimates, or adjust other resources to attain desired production levels. I work under the supervision of a higher level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.
