This position is responsible for journeyman-level carpentry and mason work, maintenance and repair, and preventive maintenance requirements for the Dayton Veterans Affairs Medical Ceriter and is located within Engineering Service under the Maintenance & Operations Supervisor.

Duties

The incumbent of the position performs the following major duties and responsibilities: Carpentry: Incumbent performs the following major duties and has the following responsibilities: selects, installs, and repairs doors and door accessories, windows, and structural members, such as wood or metal studding, floor and ceiling joists, roof rafters, flooring, and roof sheathing; installs suspended ceilings, insulation, paneling, resilient floor covering, rubber base, shelving, shingles, wall and floor cabinets, carpeting, plastic laminate on wall, hangs and finishes drywall; constructs/ installs counter tops, cabinets, and items of a special nature which cannot be purchased due to uncommon measurements/ needs, etc. Performs maintenance, repair and/or construction of a variety of structures and surfaces of brick, block, tile, stone, and other related materials. Incumbent repairs/ restores furniture by reproducing parts; reproduces building parts made of wood, such as cornice, antique moldings, windows, etc. Incumbent may occasionally drive a truck up to 11/2 tons to deliver materials and install outdoor Christmas decorations. Assist roofers in the application of roofing.
