Duties

Joining Customs & Border Protection will allow you to use your expertise to analyze and advise management on a wide range of program activities which will impact the total Customs Agency. This position starts at a salary of $103,409.00 (GS-13, Step 1) to $134,435.00 (GS-13, Step 10) with promotion potential to $134,435.00 (GS-13 Step 10). Salary: Salary listed reflects the rest of U.S. scale and, if applicable, will be adjusted to meet the locality pay or cost of living expenses of the duty location upon selection. Typical duties includes: Planning, developing and coordinating planning management through briefings, presentations and conferences for executive management. Ensuring that accurate, appropriately concise and timely information is available to executive management and policy officials. Providing technical assistance and directing support to management staff in all matters relating to the application of planning systems and management programs to meet mission requirements. Developing, implementing, and monitoring sophisticated management information systems that focus on long and short-range plans, policies and programs in the direction of goals, objectives, and priorities established by statutes, executive orders, the Department, or executive management. Designing and administering planning and controls for submission of data, including forming the basis of budget and program resource requests and decisions.

Qualifications

Experience: You qualify for the GS13 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Directing, implementing, coordinating, and overseeing a major segment of an agency-wide mission or administrative program; Developing and evaluating policies in assigned program areas, taking or recommending actions to achieve organizational objectives and recommending future program objectives and improvements; Developing policies, issuances and directives; Coordinating activities to office support staff, advising and providing analytical support on problem definition, planning methodologies, policies, and procedures. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must: Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 08/30/2024. The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. Current and former federal employees may be required to serve or complete a probationary period.
