About the Position: Serve as a Chief, Special Events Team, and Supervisory Senior Protocol Specialist, within the Department of the Army Protocol Office, Arlington, VA.
Duties
Technical advisor for Secretary of the Army, Chief of Staff of the Army, Under Secretary of the Army, Vice Chief of Staff of the Army, and Sergeant Major of the Army hosted conference events.
Ensure organization’s strategic plans, mission, vision and values are communicated and integrated into the team’s strategies, goals, objectives.
Independently conceptualizes, plans, coordinates, and executes high level (White House, Congress, DoD, Government Industry, and other) military and civilian, foreign and domestic visits/functions.
Coordinate directly with appropriate individuals to facilitate arrangements for site and facility selection, procurement of awards, press coverage, gift exchanges, appropriate menu selections, meetings, invitations, seating arrangements, etc.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a TOP-SECRET security clearance.
- This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to applicant testing and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to sign DA Form 5019 requiring participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
- TDY may be required up to 25% of the time.
- One-year supervisory probationary period may be required. A one-year probationary period is required if the selectee has not previously met this requirement.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level or equivalent that includes coordinating high level (White House, Congress, DoD, Government Industry, and other) military and civilian, foreign and domestic visits/functions, ceremonies, conferences, and/or special events; applying national and international rules, procedures, and forums prescribing traditional and diplomatic customs, courtesies, and etiquette; providing recommendations for conferences including location based on the scope of the event, number of attendees, and/or requirements; conducting thorough planning and research to ascertain all relevant information and assures all arrangements and details are tailored to fit the needs of each event; briefing high ranking personnel and large groups on all aspects of event sequencing and execution. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).
