This position serves as administrative support for Quality, Safety, and Improvement (QSI). This position provides administrative support and staff assistance to further the availability and effectiveness of QSI. The Office of QSI managers a number of quality-related programs including patient safety, utilization review, tort claim review, adverse drug effects, etc. The office is also the medical center's accreditation consultant and ensures that policies are consistent with VA regulations.
Duties
This is a detail not to exceed 120 days and there is no change in salary or pay. Supervisors written approval is required to apply.
This position completes a range of duties that include, but are not limited to:
Screen mail, email, visitors, telephone calls in order to direct inquires to the proper person or personally respond accurately with tact and diplomacy
Coordinate orientation for new staff members
Make travel arrangements for leaders and staff in accordance with regulations and policies
Serve as the service primary timekeeper and educate staff on required actions
Establish controls for accountability and tracking for equipment inventory, external site visits, action items, policies, standard operating policies, and Quality Safety Improvement staff's mandatory training compliance
Read, interpret, and analyze polices or guidelines
Maintain the office files, letters, emails, memorandum, reports and minutes and other documents accurately and timely
Independently collect data, formulate reports, create graphs, and complete monthly, quarterly and/or Annual Reports
Collaborate or coordinate with Quality Safety Improvement staff to ensure performance improvement issues are documented and appropriate follow-up actions are taken
Assist and /or advise in the formulation of service policies/practices and responsible for tracking and uploading policies
Identify and resolve problems concerning space, personnel, budget, equipment utilization, and supply needs for the service
Ability to utilize a variety of computer software to process daily work and serve as computer consultant for other service staff
Serve as a Fund Control Point Clerk, knowledge of cost-benefit analysis
Develop meeting agendas for meetings or external site visits, and formal committee minutes
Administrative assistance or support of the various Quality Safety Improvement programs i.e., Peer Review, Risk Management, Patient Safety, Continuous Process Improvement, High reliability Organizations and Continuous Survey Readiness
Work Schedule: 8:00 am - 4:30 Monday - Friday, subject to change based on the facility needs.

Only GS-06 applicants will be considered for this Detail.
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 08/29/2024.
Physical Requirements: The work is mostly sedentary; however, walking and stair climbing within the medical center are required.
Typing Proficiency: 40 words per minute typing speed.
