You will serve as an Electronics Technician in the Technical Support and Test Division, Weapons Repair Department of TRIDENT REFIT FACILITY, BANGOR.

Duties

You will provide Fleet Technical Assistance (FTA), waterfront/deck-plate engineering, technical, logistics, management and coordination assistance and services for Defensive Weapons, Torpedo, and Launcher Systems. You will conduct system/equipment operational and maintenance training. You will provide alteration installation team (AIT) support including dock-side, at-sea, pre/post modernization/ installation testing and shipboard technical and logistics support during system/equipment modernization installations. You will provide engineering technical assistance in troubleshooting and fault isolation, pre/post availability inspections and grooms, work packages and technical work document review. You will create and develop plans and procedures for isolation and resolution of complex intermittent shipboard system problems. You will provide technical over-sight, consultation, and over-the-shoulder maintenance training; and FTA data collection and reporting services.

  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

FOR THE GS-12 POSITION: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector providing engineering and technical expertise in electronic control systems by continuously collecting and assessing data, providing on-the-job maintenance training, and providing technical oversight to the testing or maintenance of hardware and software to maintain reliability and dependability in the repair of ship's electronic systems. FOR THE GS-11 POSITION: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-10 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector assisting in the continuous collection and assessment of data, providing on-the-job maintenance training or assisting in the technical oversight of the testing or maintenance of hardware and software to maintain reliability and dependability in the repair of ship's electronic systems.
