You will serve as a Electronics Technician in the Public Works Business Line of NAVFAC NORTHWEST.

Duties

You will serve as the technical advisor and subject matter expert to the engineering group, technicians, and security managers on the functional requirements, cost, logistical and operational data for all security systems. You will use advanced mathematical formulas and basic electronic principals and fundamentals in testing and analyzing complex electronic security systems. You will communicate with other agencies and security managers in regard to system operations, discrepancies, and security requirements in order to comply with security regulations and instructions. You will design, plan, schedule, and coordinate security system upgrades and modifications, new equipment acquisition, and installations.

  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • May be required to carry a portable radio or phone and maintain contact with supervisor or dispatch center at all times.
  • In the event of an emergency, the incumbent may be required to report to work during non-duty/duty hours and during emergency situations; may be assigned duties other than those identified in the position description.
  • Work site areas include activities supported by NAVFAC Northwest.
  • May be assigned to any basic work week or shift hours, including alternating shifts.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-10 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Performing journey level electronics mechanic maintenance and repairs on security system; 2) Designing, planning, scheduling, and coordinating security system upgrades and modifications, new equipment acquisition, and installations; 3) Performing Quality Assurance inspections after contract work is finished; and 4) Reading and interpreting blueprints, technical manuals, work instructions, standard operating procedures, and schematics of systems.
