Serves as a senior security assistant (Tier 2) handling challenging and difficult issues being escalated from the team. Supervises a team of security assistants responsible for answering customer inquiries received over the telephone or in written correspondence, primarily email.
Duties
This announcement is open to: Current DoD employees who reside or currently employed in the Boyers, PA local commuting area, which includes the Pennsylvania counties of Butler, Clarion, Armstrong, Allegheny, Beaver, Lawrence, Mercer, Crawford, Erie, Venango, Jefferson, Indiana, and Westmorland; Ohio counties of Columbia, Trumbull, and Mahoning; and all cities existing in Pennsylvania or Ohio within the geographic area bounded by the outer boundaries of the combined areas of the aforementioned counties.
As a SUPERVISORY SECURITY ASSISTANT
You will be responsible for the following duties: Tier 2 responsibilities escalated from the security assistant team include:
-Interpreting laws, rules, regulations, guidance and DCSA policy that govern Federal personnel security and suitability program operations for agencies.
- Managing the validation/revalidation of subject management in current and future applications.
- Providing training to users on external facing information technology programs used for personnel security to ensure the proper safeguarding of security information.
- Facilitating the use of DCSA products and services to customer agencies by providing functional support and triaging technical issues for resolution.
- Attend Conferences such as NCMS as a subject matter consultant.
- Provide the customers with presentations as well as trainings.
- Interpret and convey important Security Executive Agent (SecEA) and Suitability Executive Agent (SuitEA) policy, procedural and operational information for internal and external users.
- Monitor and enforce access policy for accessing DCSA systems.
- Assist FSOs with understanding how to evaluate the character, background and history of employees, candidates for employment, and other persons having or proposed to be granted access to classified or other sensitive information, materials, or work sites.

Applicant must have directly applicable experience that demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job, but will clearly demonstrate past experience in the application of the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position.
You must have specialized experience sufficient to demonstrate that you have acquired all the competencies necessary to perform at a level equivalent in difficulty, responsibility, and complexity to the next lower grade GS/GG-09 in the Federal service and are prepared to take on greater responsibility.
Generally, this would include one year or more of such specialized experience. Specialized experience for this position includes:
Assisting customers with system interoperability between agency and customer personnel security systems.
Providing internal and external customer service and troubleshooting for personnel security systems.
Advising internal departments and external agencies on operating their personnel security and suitability programs to ensure compliance.
Serving as a liaison with management officials and their staffs responsible for the operation of department and agency personnel security and suitability programs.
Providing training to users on external facing information technology programs used for personnel security to ensure the proper safeguarding of security information
