About the Position: The incumbent serves as the Strategic Communications Advisor for the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-4, responsible for the full range performance of strategic communications, congressional affairs, and public affairs, located at Arlington, VA.

Duties

Performs the full range of strategic communications, congressional, and public affairs work for G-4. Coordinates all G-4 visits and briefings to Congress and the media. Responsible for the proper preparation and staffing of all Logistics Initiatives Group products and materials in accordance with applicable staff action guidelines. Provides advice and guidance on the preparation of responses to Congressional and media inquiries. Responsible for establishing, organizing, and writing a variety of comprehensive issues pertaining to Congressional and media correspondence.

  • The employee may perform Temporary Duty Travel (TDY) up to 10% of the time.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting senior leaders on all aspects of strategic communications with Congress, the media, and other outside entities; providing guidance on the preparation of responses to Congressional and media inquiries; maintaining effective work relationships with senior staff officials and representatives of Congressional offices; and preparing effective written and oral responses to a variety of complex, controversial, and/or requests related to sensitive issues. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-14). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Administration and ManagementCommunications and MediaOral CommunicationWritten Communication Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-14).
