Duties
Serves as an Administrative Support Specialist with responsibility for providing a variety of support services/functions to the Defense Finance Accounting Service (DFAS) Human Resources (HR) Director and Deputy Director.
Conducts management studies and works individual projects related to the mission, functions, manpower, administrative operations and processes of the Human Resources Directorate.
Utilizes a variety of automated processing software packages such as Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel, etc., to develop, analyze and present statistical data.
Provides guidance on reports or other administrative requirements placed on the organization and coordinates with HR staff to provide needed information and material.
Manages all aspects of DFAS, Dept. of Defense and Federal Government protocol to include procedures, courtesies and etiquette for distinguished visitors. Coordinates events with DFAS HQ to ensure all elements meet established protocol requirements.
Controls and provides substantive advice on suspense for staff action/correspondence; orders and controls supplies/equipment; utilizes the Defense Travel System (DTS); and prepares briefings and presentations for HR leadership and staff.

Qualifications
One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-07) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.
Specialized experience is described as applying knowledge of the rules, procedures, operations, organization, and functions of an organization sufficient to perform all administrative support work of the office of a Senior Leader, management official or department head. Examples of work performed include advising action officers in subordinate units on such matters as the application of procedures, correspondence and reporting requirements; managing the assignment and completion of information and data requests for a work unit; managing appointment calendars, scheduling conferences and meetings in a virtual environment; using office automation software in development of correspondence; presentations and documents; researching, interpreting and applying clerical and administrative regulations, reviewing correspondence to ensure compliance with regulations, grammar, format; coordinating travel arrangements
Time-in-Grade: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement. Applicant must have served 52 weeks as a GS-07 or higher grade in Federal Service.
Education
GS-9 Substitution of Education for Experience: Two full years of progressively higher level graduate education, Master's or equivalent graduate degree, may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement. Equivalent combinations of successfully completed graduate level education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements.
