Position is located in the Operations Directorate, DO-J
Duties
Serves as an Executive Officer and advisor to a Director and advises on a variety of administrative policies, operations, and procedures.
Collaborates with Director and Division Chiefs to develop, evaluate and review projects improving the effectiveness of work methods and procedures, manpower utilization, distribution of work assignments, and Directorate administrative issues.
Coordinates administrative matters that cross organizational lines, and ensures an open communication between organizations while addressing a number of issues for which the incumbent has specific administrative oversight.
Formulates plans and provides managerial expertise regarding all aspects of staff operations throughout the Directorate.

- Time after Competitive Appointment: Candidates must have served 3 months after latest competitive appointment in the Federal service.
- This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.
- Time-in-Grade Requirement: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement. Applicant must have served 52 weeks as a GS-13 or higher grade in Federal Service.
Qualifications
One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-13) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.
Specialized experience is defined as: Serve as an expert for DFAS administrative areas, programs and policies, including operational, financial, or strategic; recommend solutions, apply and interpret regulatory material, analyze and evaluate issues, and coordinate resolutions; assist in generating analytical studies or projects intended for an executive audience; serve as a focal point for information relating to administrative and strategic programs.
You may qualify for consideration if meeting time-in grade, specialized experience, education requirement, 90 days after competitive appointment requirement, and all other qualification requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, unless otherwise indicated on the announcement.
