Duties

Oversee operations of the rotary wing aircraft/helicopter flight simulator. Train and evaluate aviators in advanced techniques and procedures for rotary wing aircraft using instruments. Accurately state flight operation facts when developing, upgrading, or revising scenarios. Review records to verify that individual to be evaluated meets all prerequisites and ensures all required equipment is available for the flight.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent will be required to work non-standard hours (after regular duty hours and weekends).
  • Incumbent required to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance for the duration of employment.
  • Required to maintain a valid state driver’s license.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) applying and evaluating basic and advanced helicopter flight techniques along with all aspects of instrument flight and navigation techniques; 2) experience using proper radio communication procedures; and 3) experience developing training scenarios, lesson plans and courses of instruction for classroom or aircraft environment. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as a degree with a major study in education or a subject area related to the position to be filled. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-???????09).
