You will serve as a Conservation Law Enforcement Officer in the Environmental Management Division, Environmental Conservation Branch of MARINE CORPS BASE.

Duties

You will conduct investigations of suspected violations of criminal and civil regulations. You will issue permits to authorized individuals for access to designated areas for the purpose of hunting, fishing, trapping and other authorized dispersed outdoor activities using permit sales and recreation access management services system. You will respond to reported violations and takes independent and appropriate action to apprehend, detain, and charge suspects or secure the violated site for further investigation. You will use proper and legal techniques to investigate violations of state and federal wildlife laws/installation regulations. You will make reports that include investigative material, witness statements, pictures and other information essential to a professional investigation.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You must meet the qualifications and be certified to carry a firearm. You will need to maintain firearm proficiency.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • Must be able to obtain certification as a Conservation Law Enforcement Officer from the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center.
  • You will be required to complete the Land Management Police Training (LMPT) at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC).

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Planning, organizing and conducting investigations including interviews, gathering and preserving evidence; 2) Writing reports related to criminal investigations and law enforcement operations; and 3) Communicating effectively, both orally and in writing and explaining conservation regulations to members of the public. Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

Successful completion of a master's or equivalent graduate degree
OR
Successful completion of two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree
OR

OR
A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience
