About the Position: About the Position: This Electronics Technician position performs as the Chief of a unit for Range Operations Directorate,Data Support Division, Optics Branch. This position is located at U.S. Army White Sands Missile Range, Range Operations Directorate.
ATEC uses salary control points to allow for differentiation in the level of positions within the same broadband. Therefore, the salary for this position will be set no higher than $113,604. (merit)
Duties
Coordinate the work efforts of electronic technicians engaged in the operation, maintenance and modification of instrumentation systems such as radar, telemetry, optics, GPS, meteorological, Network Integration Evaluation, etc.
Plan the objectives to be achieved by the instrumentation systems.
Review the completed objectives for satisfactory compliance with overall policies.
Provides general guidelines on the objectives to be met by the instrumentation personnel.
Requirements
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- A one-year probationary period may be required.
- This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.

To qualify for this position you must meet the qualification requirement listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Serves as team lead for personnel that operate and maintain optics instrumentation for an organization; 2) Oversees technicians in the operation and maintenance of instruments such as in-optical high speed fix cameras, surveillance cameras and tracking cameras; and 3) Providing recommendations to modify or improve assigned electronic systems or procedures.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11 or NJ-03).
