About the Position: Position is located at White Sands Test Center, Range Operations Dir, Data Support Div, Telemetry Br with duty location of White Sands Missile Range, NM. White Sands Missile Range, NM. The Range provides Army, Navy, Air Force, DoD, and other customers with high quality services for experimentation, test, research, assessment, development, and training in support of the Nation. (merit).

Duties

Evaluate overall performance of the instrumentation system and advise of any data support limitations. Lead team members in performing troubleshooting of instrumentation systems and equipment to correct problems. Work directly with range agencies and range users in the execution of support plans to satisfy very complex mission requirements. Analyze requirements to determine areas where instrumentation such as radar, telemetry systems, optics, targets, Global Positioning System (GPS), timing, flight safety, laboratories, and meteorology system support is required. Provide effective test support to include but not limited to planning, scheduling, data collection, mission control and analysis.

Requirements

  • This position requires a pre-employment and annual physical examination.
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent must obtain and maintain a valid Class A, Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within 6 months of starting this position to operate commercial vehicles required by this position.
  • This position may require use of protective clothing or equipment as authorized by the WSMR Safety Office.
  • This position requires to work irregular hours, nights, weekends, rotating shifts, holidays, and/or overtime.
  • This position requires the incumbent to work in all types of weather.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
  • The incumbent of this position must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • This position is subject to a Temporary Duty or business travel requirement of 20% or less of the time.
  • A one-year probationary period may be required.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (NJ-03 or GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
