You will serve as a MARINE MACHINERY MECHANIC in the REPAIR DEPARTMENT of TRIDENT REFIT FACILITY, BANGOR.

Duties

You will repair and test various types of machinery from ships and submarines and evaluate their proper operational characteristics. You will follow various technical documents such as controlled work procedures. You will generate, complete or process opening and closing reports as well as quality control forms and certifications. You will read and interpret drawings, sketches, plans, controlled work procedures, technical repair standards of shipboard mechanical systems. You will read and interpret blueprints for fabrication, installation, repair, and modify shipboard mechanical systems. You will overhaul, repair, and test all types of valves, regulators, cylinders, compressors, pumps and miscellaneous auxiliary equipment removed from ships and submarines. You will use precision measuring instruments such as height and depth gages, calipers and venires, inside and outside micrometers.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to perform occasional sea duty.
