You will serve as a MARINE MACHINERY MECHANIC LEADER in the Port Operations division of NAVBASE KITSAP SILVERDALE WA.

Duties

You will analyze workload documents (e.g., advance work lists, manufacturing requests, preliminary man-time estimates, engineering plans, material lists) to develop scheduling for marine machinery operations. You will instruct on the use of precision measuring devices and tools (e.g., micrometers, dial indicators, gauges, comparators, vernier scale measuring tools) used for marine machinery repair or installation. You will advise mechanics on repairs to marine machinery, equipment, and their components. You will identify, track, deliver, and assemble materials needed to perform the marine machinery tasks described within a technical work document (TWD). You will advise junior personnel on marine machinery mechanic processes and trade skills for assigned projects. You will direct personnel in the troubleshooting of marine engines and other equipment (e.g., propulsion machinery auxiliary generators, pumps, compressors, firefighting equipment).

The Screen-out Element for this position is: 1) Following a checklist that would include the inspection and cleaning of brakes, electrical systems, fuel injection systems, plugs, carburetors and other parts; 2) Follow inspection, mechanics repair or adjust parts that do not work properly or replace non-repairable parts; 3) Routine maintenance and the use of special computerized diagnostic testing equipment in analyzing equipment.
