This notice is issued under direct-hire authority to recruit new talent to occupations for which NIST has a severe shortage of candidates.
Duties
Manage expansive international & academic programs/policies for NIST; oversee overall
planning, direction and execution of NIST international and academic Programs; represent NIST
to international and educational entities including foreign governments/institutions, international
organizations, and foreign and domestic academic institutions; define international and
academic objectives; manage resources and serve as technical authority for international and
academic programs; represent NIST to U.S. interagency on international and academic affairs;
represent IAAO in NIST research security program. Work results influence NIST academic and
international programs and plans and impacts the success and continuation of key international
and academic programs essential to NIST's mission.

Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
Degree: physics; or related degree that included at least 24 semester hours in physics.
or
Combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in physics totaling at least 24 semester hours, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
In either A or B above, the courses must have included a fundamental course in general physics and, in addition, courses in any two of the following: electricity and magnetism, heat, light, mechanics, modern physics, and sound.
In addition to the above basic requirements, this position requires one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 (ZP-IV at NIST) level. Specialized experience is defined as: Experience in USG foreign science & technology policies and program objectives, international agreements, and diplomatic engagements. Experience with foreign guest researchers, associates, visitors and scholar programs. Experience with USG STEM efforts, adacemic research. And postdoc administration.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done. We will credit all qualifying volunteer experience in your application.
