Duties

The duties for this position include: Conduct data analysis of contactless fingerprints, assist in tuning algorithms that will be used for classifying contactless fingerprints from traditional contact-collected images, work the team to (re)tune the model for device certification as new data is collected, conduct continued qualification testing of new contactless fingerprint phantoms as they are fabricated (by MML), develop prototype algorithms for analysis of biometric data in Matlab and assist developers in the team in converting prototype code to production grade code.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements: Degree: physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics. or Combination of education and experience -- education equivalent to one of the majors shown in A above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education. In addition to the basic requirements, applicants must also have 1 year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 (ZP-IV at NIST) level. Specialized experience is defined as experience with image analysis using scientific tools such as Matlab, experience processing large data sets and develop algorithms for the analysis of the images including classification of images. Experience with developing experimental plans for conducting evaluations of test data. Work with team to translate findings into scientific papers. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done. We will credit all qualifying volunteer experience in your application.
