Duties
Performs preventative Maintenance on the security management system by periodically testing all alarm points in conjunction with Security Systems
Prepares comprehensive written reports of all program issues with supporting rationale for safety and security recommendations
Install and program badging stations, which includes camera, software ID card programs and readers, etc.
Prepares purchase requests and statements justifying the purchase of new equipment and materials
Monitors and evaluates facilities security systems repair and/or renovation work for compliance with applicable codes and regulations.
Requirements
- You must be a current Career or Career Conditional GPO employee to apply.
- Selectee must be able to obtain and maintain Top Secret Clearance.
- TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must meet time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. Applicants must have served 1 year at the next lower grade level or equivalent grade level of federal service to qualify

To qualify for the Security Specialist, PG - 0080 - 13 , you must meet the following requirements:
To minimally qualify for the PG-13 level, you must meet the following requirements: You must possess (1) year of specialized experience at the PG-12 (or equivalent) level or higher. Specialized experience includes:
Interpret and apply guidelines of more than one Federal agency or department which apply to security programs and organizations. Prepare comprehensive written reports on all issues, recommends, and provides supporting rationale for safety and security recommendations. Prepare and conduct training and orientation sessions for management and operating personnel. Evaluate facilities layout concepts and recommend equipment arrangements to maximize security.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
