This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), U.S. Coast Guard (USCG), Deputy Commandant for Operations (DCO), Cyber Command (CGCYBER), Security Section, Operations Support Department, Washington, D.C. 

Duties

This position serves as the CGCYBER Security Officer and Lead Special Security Officer (SSO) for the USCG and as such manages and implements the Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and Collateral Security Program for CGCYBER. 

Requirements

  • Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Drug / Alcohol Test is required
  • Time-in-grade requirement must be met by closing date.
  • A one-year probationary period maybe required.

Qualifications

To qualify for the GS-14: Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lowest grade level (GS-13 level) in the federal service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Specialized experience includes experience that involved extensive operational experience in a Supervisory Security Specialist position. Applicant MUST meet 2 of the 4 bullets below: Managing SCI programs; AND Developing physical security methods used for safeguarding information, property, personnel, operations, or materials; AND Conducting analyses of a facility to ensure risk assessments and security measures are compliant with set guidelines; AND Leading a security workforce to enhance physical security, information security, or security risk assessment programs.  It is preferred that you are able to: Interview candidates for security positions and recommending appointment, promotion, or reassignment to such positions. There is no educational substitution at this grade level. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule, C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.
