About the Position: The incumbent serves as a Public Affairs Specialist for the Mission and Installation Contracting Command (MICC), the incumbent is responsible to assist in the planning and execution of the MICC public affairs program.

Duties

Public Affairs Specialist for the Mission and Installation Contracting Command (MICC), the incumbent is responsible to assist in the planning and execution of the MICC public affairs program throughout the MICC and its subordinate units. Responds to requests from the news media, the public, the U.S. Army, the Department of Defense, public affairs offices, and other agencies inquiring about MICC matters. Assists with the development of policy, procedures, and practices in the areas of Command Information, social media, photography, videography and congressional liaison matters. Develops and writes informative original material related to MICC programs and initiatives designed to reach national audiences through news media such as social media, radio, television, newspapers, trade publications and magazines. Written materials include news releases, fact sheets, feature stories, background statements, etc. Directs, writes, and coordinates the editorial work, publication, and distribution of social media and command information products, graphics and other informational material under the cognizance of the public affairs programs. Conducts editorial boards, develops concepts, story ideas, graphics and themes. Researches and writes news articles appropriate for both internal and external release. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with community, civic, state, and federal groups as well as local and national print and broadcast media representatives. disseminates information or answering inquiries about the MICC mission, its people, and operations to effectively publicize the unit and its subordinate units. Develops policies, procedures, and practices in the areas of command overview, VIP visits, and congressional liaison matters. Serves as the primary proponent for external release of website information to the public Develops responses to inquiries from media and public for review by the Senior Public Affairs Specialist and the MICC Commander. Provides on-site support at exhibit venues from set-up through tear-down as required, and coordinates logistical and on-site requirements with participants, to include presentation requirements and schedules. Develops or assists with the development of strategic communication plans by considering specific topics and/or emphasis on the most effective media for intended audiences. Gathers detailed analytics of social media and web performance of MICC communication for various demographics including special interest groups and other MICC stakeholders.
