You will serve as a MATERIALS HANDLER in the SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT BRANCH of NAVFAC ENGINEERING CMD MID-ATLANTIC.

Duties

You will identify type of material handling equipment (e.g., forklift, shelving, restraints) necessary to move or store heavy, bulky, or odd-shaped items. You will move heavy materials in close quarters (e.g., narrow aisles or ramps, in and out of buildings, on and off trucks or other conveyance). You will operate power equipment and small hand tools to assist with warehousing duties. You will safely operate a forklift, hand truck, pallet jack, or other material handling equipment to gather items for shipment.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Forklift Operator License.
  • Must be able to obtain/maintain proper licensing (CDL A, B OR C if required) as well as driver's license and government operator permit as determined by employing command with HAZMAT certification to transport hazardous material.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • May be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends and/or holidays or shift schedule depending on mission requirements. Overtime and/or emergency overtime may be required.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION. 1) Requiring general knowledge of the methods used in processing, handling, and storing of materials and equipment through a supply facility; 2) Logging receipts, storage, and shipment data; 3) Using manual or mechanized equipment to move, stack, bin, and position materials and equipment.
